Ric Flair has come out and revealed that he was shocked to hear the announcement of Big Show moving from the WWE to AEW.
Ric Flair Was Shocked At Big Show’s Switch To AEW
During an interview on the Busted Open Radio, Rick outlined how he was caught unawares but acknowledged that money often does the talking. He said: “I didn’t see it coming, and I’m sure they [AEW] must have made him a spectacular deal over there. Do I wish had would stay with us personally? Yes. At the same time, he has earned my respect, and I think he has earned the respect of everybody and should be able to make whatever choice he wants.”
It was not just a shock given that Big Show moved to a rival company, but rather that, he had not mentioned anything of it to his close pal, Ric himself. He added: “I was just with him, and I did not see it happening. He did not mention a word to me, and I was with him, what two or three weeks ago, whenever they had the Legends Reunion.”
It does seem strange that Big Show did not mention it, but with such a huge decision on the line, it did make sense that he took the time to consider it. Nevertheless, Ric had no hard feelings towards it: “I wish him well, and he and I would be friends no matter where he is and what he does.”
The news of the switch broke this week, and the pandemonium around it was huge. After all, AEW had just signed up one of the most iconic wrestlers of our time. And Tony Khan, president of the AEW, announced at the time: “Paul Wight is one of the most recognizable and impressive professional athletes in the world.
“He wanted to come to AEW because he believes that we’re the best promotion in wrestling, and we believe that he has a lot to offer us, both in the ring as a wrestler and also outside the ring as a commentator, host and ambassador for AEW.”
It will be interesting to see if Big Show can live up to the hype and deliver what we know he is capable of doing. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
