New maps in Battle Royales are some of the biggest changes that can happen. This is the same for Warzone. The long rumoured map named Ural Mountains has been spoken about ever since the start of Warzone back in 2020.
We have had a smaller map in Warzone called Rebirth, but it does come under a lot of criticism. It looks like the long rumoured Ural Mountains map may never appear in Warzone or Call of Duty at all.
We may never see Ural Mountains.
It is now being reported that the rumoured map was actually meant to be part of Blackout. Call of Duty first tried at a Battle Royale back in 2018 back in Call of Duty Black Ops 4. Blackout was a decent first try at making a Battle Royale.
It did have some problems, but when it was working, it was a good Battle Royale.
Blackout was basically a stepping stone to what Warzone is today. It looked like a sequel to Blackout was going to happen. Ural Mountain looked to be the map for the sequel of Blackout. Blackout was initially used as a kind of mode as part of Call of Duty before it changed to be slightly separate.
So what has changed?
The big reason why we haven’t seen this map seems to be Warzone’s success. It looked like this change after the massive success of Warzone, that still was just a mode in Modern Warfare. After the huge success of Warzone, it looked like there was no need for Blackout anymore.
It could have been that when Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War started, we were going to get Blackout 2 with the Ural Mountain map. But know that looks never to happen and if we will see the rumoured map at some point is unknown.
