The introduction of the Women’s Tag Team Championships was greeted with acclaim from fans back in 2018. However, the title hasn’t quite had the effect that fans would have been hoping for, as it hasn’t really given a chance to superstars to excel. Instead, it has been constantly been used as a tool to enhance rivalries for the singles championships on the respective brands.
It would be hard to envisage a WrestleMania without the titles being defended, but which team could step up and challenge Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the gold?
WWE News: The Riott Squad
The Riott Squad are the main obvious contenders for the women’s tag team championships, as they are one of the few teams in contention that are actually a team. Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan have been reunited for nearly a year now after going their separate ways due to the WWE Draft.
The team are yet to win the tag titles, and a win for them at Mania would be fully deserved. Both stars are certainly highly thought of within the WWE Universe, and them winning the titles to open one of the nights at Mania would be something that fans in attendance would love to see.
WWE News: Lana And Naomi
The rivalry between Lana and Nia Jax has been going on for what feels like a lifetime now. They clashed in the lead up to the Survivor Series PPV, which ended with Lana being the final team member, before Lana eliminated Jax from the Royal Rumble earlier in the year. Having the team of Lana and Naomi take on Jax and Baszler for the tag title would mean that this chapter could finally come to a close with Lana finally getting her hands on the titles.
It would also allow Jax to move onto something new, which will more than likely be a feud with Baszler. Fans will also be happy to see Naomi in a prominent position, as she is one of the most talented superstars on the roster.
WWE News: Natalya And Tamina
Natalya and Tamina look set to be involved in the tag title picture according to the route that SmackDown has been taking over the past couple of weeks. Natalya is one of the best workers in the WWE, and Tamina’s relationship with Jax also adds intrigue to seeing the match.
However, the fact that both teams are heels means that it will be unlikely to be a standard match. Instead, should this team be involved, then we could see a multi-team match for the tag titles.
