Mercedes Martinez was brought in by Robert Stone to help win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships from Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon, but that was unsuccessful. Because of this, Martinez only got half the expected pay, but tonight she’s coming to collect. Martinez attacked Aliyah backstage, and Kamea made the save. She doesn’t want to step around Martinez, she wants to step on her.
Jessi Kamea Tries Her Best
Before the bell rang, Kamea would run into Martinez from behind. She would stomp on the back of Martinezx before hitting the running dropkick. Martinez was choked in the corner before Kamea threw her across the ring and hit with a running elbow strike.
Kamea stayed in firm control, and pulled Martinez into position for a twisting springboard elbow drop. Martinez dodged a kick in the corner, before running in with a knee strike. The Air Raid Crash hit, and that was it. All of Kameas offense looked good, but it only took two good hits from Martinez to end this match.
Mercedes Martinez Takes What’s Her, Before Making A Challenge For The NXT Women’s Championship
After the match, Martinez would run down Aliyah & Robert Stone at ringside, and effectively mug him for the money she was owed. Once she had a stack of bills in hand, she went over the commentary table with a message. She was proud of Raquel Gonazalez for winning the title, but let her know that she is coming for the belt.
Martinez has never gotten a one on one match for the NXT Women’s Championship, just a triple threat match against Io Shirai & Toni Storm. If anyone makes for a strong first challenger for someone like Gonzalez, it’s Martinez who doesn’t match her in size, but in intensity for sure. She easily wins in terms of experience, where Martinez is perhaps the most seasoned member of the NXT roster, while Gonzalez is barely out of her rookie year.
