Io Shirai was keen on reaching one year as NXT Women’s Champion, but also wanted to test herself every step of the way. Because of this, she challenged Big Mami Cool, Raquel Gonzalez. Shirai was as good as ever, and took risks like diving off the skull set up on the entrance ramp, but in the end she fell to a One Armed Powerbomb from Gonzalez, and thus her reign ended.
Tonight, Raquel Gonzalez addresses the fans of NXT as she takes her spot on top of the most hotly contested women’s division in all of NXT. To make things even better, her first potential challenger stepped up earlier in the show, that being twenty year vet, Mercedes Martinez.
Raquel Gonzalez Worked Hard To Get Here
Dakota Kai would be the one to welcome her best friend to the ring, and you could just see the pride of her as Gonzalez marched to the ring with that NXT Women’s Championship over her shoulders. Gonzalez flexed her back muscles with the championship gold on display, a great way to show a title off. She got a “You Deserve It” chant from the crowd.
A year and a half ago, NXT went live on the USA Network, and Gonzalez was supposed to make her debut. But she was deemed as not being ready. She went home, and worked on becoming the best thing in the NXT Women’s division. That hard work has paid off, and now she’s the champion.
Without Dakota Kai however, Gonzalez doesn’t debut at Takeover: Portland, they don’t become the first ever NXT Tag Team Champions and Dusty Cup Winners, and Gonzalez wouldn’t have gotten to become champion.
Franky Monet Introduces Herself
However, at this time Franky Monet would make her debut. We’ve seen her dog running around the PC, but she picked her moment to debut. She’d even bring her dog to the ring as she interrupted Gonzalez, but would congratulate the champion all the same. Franky Monet is La Perra del Mal, and intends to make her division in due time.
Gonzalez warns that if Monet interrupts her ever again, her puppy is going where the sun don’t shine. Monet is set up to be the first big challenge of Gonzalez, but there was one other guest for Gonzalez.
Some Guests Of Honor
The RAW Women’s Champion, and former NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley would make her way down to the ring. Last time we saw her, Gonzalez put her through the stage to win a Last Women’s Standing match, but now they both hold gold. Deep down, they’re best friends, and they’d clink those titles and hug it out.
Bianca Belair wasn’t going to be left out, and she’d come to the ring to celebrate as well. These are three of the best in the world, and all got their real starts here in NXT. Once they were just friends backstage, and now they’re on top of the world.
