Impact Wrestling’s partnership with AEW and hitting their stride lately with Moose facing Kenny Omega at Against All Odds on June 12 for the Impact World championship, things have taken an interesting turn.
During an interview segment on IMPACT!, Moose listed some of Omega’s wins and two names were Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley.
Of course, he referred to Jericho as great and Mox as a psychotic (paraphrasing) and this has opened some thinking about what’s to come between the two.
Bigger invasion goals
So far the invasion as been limited to Omega, the Good Brothers, and Private Party, but that doesn’t mean more won’t come.
Especially given how big a thorn in Moxley’s side Omega has been.
Our thinking is both Jericho and Moxley could take Moose’s comments as praise or reason to step into an Impact ring to test Impact’s mettle.
But with Jericho’s injury, we’d expect him to do his work on the mic. Maybe even a brief mention about Moose understanding his greatness.
Moxley seems like he’d be more at home in Impact Wrestling with Sami Callihan.
And with Callihan stepping in to get a pound of Omega’s flesh and helping Moose by accident, Moxley would give them an edge. Throw in Eddie Kingston and things could get very interesting.
Returning the favor
AEW has done very little to promote Impact Wrestling events, and now would be a great time for Impact’s wrestlers to appear on AEW Dynamite.
They don’t have to attack anyone or cause a lot of mayhem as their presence could be enough.
Moose seems fine to protect Impact and return the championship to where it belongs, but Callihan probably wouldn’t have a problem popping in to spoil Omega’s party.
Possibly even helping Moxley and Kingston out if/when Omega and the Good Brothers get the upper hand in a confrontation.
It’d add some more spice and let their partnership grow in intensity for the next few weeks.
We have a feeling this relationship could be nearing the end of the line, and this would be a great way to go out with a final flourish to get all of us talking about both companies.
Of course, with Jericho injured he could also tab Callihan to take his spot. Callihan has more than enough grit to spit in MJF’s face no matter the odds.
Of course, this is all purely speculation based on Moose mentioning their names, but it’s fun to play these what ifs every now and then. It helps keep us young.
