Since he lost the Impact World Championship to Kenny Omega at Rebellion, Rich Swann has been absent from Impact television.
It makes sense after the beating he suffered storyline wise. Omega hit him with roughly 11 V-Triggers to cement the win.
The match itself was rough, in our opinion, as Swann only had a few bursts of offense and spent most of the match being dominated by Omega.

Not as planned
As the perpetual underdog, it fit into Swann’s character and storyline that he’d face a beating but his heart would carry him to victory like it did against Moose.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way and Omega walked out with the AEW and Impact World Championship.
There may have been another reason.
According to fightful.com, Swann’s contract ended in May, so it makes sense his title run ended. We just wish he could’ve put up more of a fight.
If this is true, then it begins the questioning of will he resign or will he go elsewhere? He had a decent run in WWE NXT a few years back, so that’s a possibility.
Possible destinations
He once formed a tag team with Ricochet called The Inner City Machine Guns and in an interview with sportingnews.com he said he loved it and would like to do it again.
AEW would be an interesting landing spot as he’d get to chase after Omega on his own grounds.
While he’d be another super athletic wrestler in AEW, we think he’d stand out as he’s got all the tools. It’d just be a question of whether or not it’s something he’s thought of.
There’s also the possibility of returning to the Indie scene with Ring of Honor or another company.
Another possibility is he could retire.
Following a legitimate injury, Rich Swann retired on an episode of IMPACT! but he was attacked by Eric Young and that triggered his comeback and eventual victory to gain the Impact World Championship.
There’s every possibility that Swann could legitimately retire after this last run. It depends on how he’s feeling physically and mentally.
Personally, we’d love to see him return to action in Impact. But in the end it depends on what he feels is in his best interest.
He’s worked hard to raise his stock and he’d be a great asset wherever he decides to go. He’s one in a million and always gives his best efforts, and as fans that and for him to be healthy are all we can ask.
