The war seems to be declared between Francis Ngannou, the new UFC heavyweight champion, and Jon Jones, the most famous light heavyweight. While the American is in the middle of a “weight gain” phase with the aim of reaching the top category (between 93 and 120 kilos), he is already starting to tease the new champion on social media.
Jon Jones, the arrogant
“I’ve made it to the middleweight division because of my talent, I’m going to make it to the heavyweight division,” Jon Jones said on Twitter. In a series of tweets, he literally waved the hatchet at Ngannou: “You know I’m a big fan Francis, you’ve never seen me quit,” said the former UFC champion, “Pray you knock me out because if you don’t, I’ll break you. And that’s a promise Francis.”
Jon Jones threatens Francis Ngannou: “I will break you, and that’s a promise”
Pray you knock me out because if you don’t I’m going to break you, and that’s a promise @francis_ngannou— BONY (@JonnyBones) May 1, 2021 via Twitter.
The predator retorts:
Not exactly impressionable, Francis Ngannou responded rather calmly to the American fighter’s intimidation, “Please don’t make me laugh. When was the last time you broke someone? You’re a decision fighter, and you barely won your last fight__…but you’re going to break me?” the Cameroonian champion laughed as he responded on Twitter.
Case to follow
For now, the Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou fight is not yet official and no date is planned. But the excitement around this super-fight is real, as evidenced by the excitement around this series of tweets exchanged between the two champions.
“Honestly Francis Ngannou, I really respect you and your story”. I really don’t feel the need to crush you in a verbal battle to do what I’ve been doing to everyone since 2011,” concluded Jon Jones eager to fight. Still, he has to manage to move up a category while maintaining his technique and ease in the octagon. But he can do it because for “Bones”, nothing is impossible. He has already proved it to the world.
