Following Hangman Page defeating Brian Cage at Double or Nothing 2021, Team Taz isn’t done with Page just yet. They opened a challenge to Page and a partner of his choice for a tag team match, and Page would pick Preston Vance of The Dark Order. They’ll meet Brian Cage & Powerhouse Hobbs, in what should be a hard hitting brawl of a match.
Hangman Page & Preston Vance Need To Work Together
Cage would start by driving Page into the corner with a shoulder tackle, before taking some forearm blows. Page countered Weapon X and nailed a standing shooting star press for a one count. Cage hit a hip toss into a backbreaker, before Page got a blind tag to Vance. Vance would trade blows with Cage before getting a pump kick in the corner.
A cheap shot from Hobbs took Vance off his stride, and a double team powerbomb dropped him hard in the middle of the ring. Hobbs would keep control of Vance, hitting a lariat into the corner before tagging in Cage. Vance got some strikes on Cage before Hobbs yanked him outside and threw him into the barricade.
Cage did some bicep curls with Vance before throwing him over his head and getting a one count. A running back elbow took Vance down before a PK to the back. Hook & Ricky Starks would make their way to ringside, as Cage had a headlock on Vance. Vance got free, only to take a dropkick to the face.
Team Taz Is Not Fine
Cage would take a rolling forearm from Vance before being hit with a big pump kick. Hobbs got a blind tag, and Vance got him with a pump kick as well before tagging in Page. Page would hit a kick on Hobbs before diving into Cage at ringside. Cage caught him and looked for a powerbomb into the post, but Page countered into a hurricanrana.
Back in the ring, Page would be taken down by a running crossbody from Hobbs. Vance & Cage went at it once more, with Cage hitting a 619 before taking a springboard lariat from Page. Hobbs was dropped by a spinebuster from Vance, before avoiding the Full Nelson Slam. Cage tagged in and hit a High/Low strike combo with Hobbs for a two count.
Hook would look to get into the ring and Starks threw Cage the FTW Championship. Cage threw it away, and Starks slapped Cage. This fight would head backstage, and Hobbs nailed a spinebuster for a two count in the ring. Hobbs was in a handicap match now, and a ripcord cutter & Buckshot Lariat would end the match.
A hard hitting tag team clash, where Preston Vance once again got a chance to shine. Hangman Page & Brian Cage mostly just retreaded spots from their clash at Double or Nothing, which was fine. The big story here is Team Taz breaking down with Cage going after Starks. Up to that point, it was just a solid ride but that extra story made this one to remember. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
