For the third time this year, WWE has done some mass releases. We’ve seen Fandango, Tyler Breeze, Tony Nese, Ariya Daivari, and Ever-Rise go. Since earlier today, eight more names join the list of those released from WWE in 2021. This puts the count up to 14 today, and has done some damage especially to the tag team ranks of WWE.
Killian Dain & The Bollywood Boyz Top The List
The three biggest names cut this time around include former NXT Tag Team Champion Killian Dain, and The Bollywood Boyz, who are best known as The Singh Brothers from Jinder Mahal’s time as WWE Champion. Killian Dain comes as a big shock, given that his wife Nikki Cross is also employed with WWE. He was also in a popular tag team act with Drake Maverick in NXT, one that fans would even cheer over champions MSK.
The Bollywood Boyz were also on the rise as a tag team, and were a crucial part of the 205 Live roster, taking part in both tag team and singles matches. They learned the news as they entered the Performance Center, and would send out the following tweet in regards to their release: “All the bumps, torn ACL’s, dislocated shoulders, it’s all been worth if for the last 5 years. And how ironic, we finished our last match with a shoulder hanging out of socket. It’s fitting we got fired while showing up for wrestling training – we love what we do, with a passion.”
Curt Stallion & August Grey Continue The Gutting Of 205 Live
Also cut from 205 Live, joining Bollywood Boyz, Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari are Curt Stallion & August Grey. Stallion has been out for months with an injury, while Grey has been picking up big wins and even started up a promising tag team with Ikeman Jiro. Grey is set to wrestle newcomer Greyson Waller tonight, and joked on Twitter that match became a “Loser Leaves Town” match.
The final names cut were Arturo Ruas, a brazilian talent with a judo background. Marina Shafir came into NXT as one half of a tag team with Jessamyn Duke, and frequently helped Shayna Baszler during her reign as NXT Women’s Champion. Finally, Tino Sabbatelli was released for the second time. He was already released and rehired in 2020 by WWE.
