NXT is easily the best thing within the WWE platform. The constant amount of good content and enjoyable matches is there, and the recent development seems to be pushing it to new levels. However. There is certainly a part of NXT growing at a steady rate, this being the number of factions appearing in NXT.
We recently wrote that Smackdown and Raw could be saved by factions but looking into this further, NXT is already doing this. The recent formation of other factions seems to hint at faction warfare of sorts coming soon, but it feels very familiar.
Copying AEW kind of
Even though the AEW and NXT war for ratings is over. There is no doubt that AEW did this first with them growing their amount of factions since day one with The Elite, Dark Order and Inner Circle.
Nearly a year later, NXT started to grow its faction roster. However, this isn’t a bad thing and should be done in more promotions. It does now feel like there is a race for either faction belts or triple belts to be announced, and we will be waiting for that day.
Raw and Smackdown to follow suit
NXT, like AEW, have tried to grow at one of the worst times. When it wasn’t possible to tour or have fans, they did both adapt but still one of the worst timing. Making this one of the reasons why NXT’s ratings are still pretty low. But the factions and other elements may change this soon. It is still apparent that NXT is easy to watch and enjoyable.
Then there is Raw and Smackdown that have been struggling before the Pandemic hit. They have said change is coming, but this has been mentioned more than once in the past with no change. However, NXT proves that changes like faction and attention to tag team wrestling work very well. If NXT keeps this up, Smackdown and Raw will hopefully notice and follow them.
