Ever since Breezango defeated Imperium to become NXT Tag Team Champions in 2020, there has been a growing feud. Imperium views the mat as sacred, and the NXT UK Champion WALTER has proven this with his dominant reign. However, he’s told Marcel Bartel & Fabian Aichner that it’s time to get serious, and they don’t want to risk disappointing their leader once again.
Imperium Seek Unbreakable Control
Bartel would start with Breeze, and was able to fight off a headlock attempt into one of his own. Breeze went for a leapfrog when Bartel hit the ropes, but was taken out of the sky with a chop. Fandango would get Breezango some control after a tag with a dropkick, before Aichner got legal and hit a powerslam.
Aichner took some heavy handed chops and a leg drop from Fandango, before being sent to the outside. Breeze went to the outside with a dive but crashed and burned, before Fandango took Imperium down. Fandango had The Last Dance set up, but Bartel used Breeze as a distraction to let Aichner take him down in the ring and regain control.
Through a picture in picture break, Fandango would remain isolated by Imperium, who settled into their type of match. Aichner & Bartel strive for control, and they’d maintain this through quick tags and steady offense. However, Fandango kept on fighting, and as he returned to full screen action? He’d finally make a solid attempt at a tag, getting slammed into the mat by Aichner.
Never Count Breezango Out
Bartel would lay in some heavy strikes before applying an aggressive Cobra Clutch. Fandango rolled through and got a roll up for a two count, before kicking off Bartel, taking Aichner now and getting the tag to Breeze. Breeze was set for a big hot tag, before taking a vicious lariat. Aichner went for a pinfall, and Breeze countered into a tight small package for the win.
Breeze tried to escape following the bell, but Imperium were salty over the loss and beat Breeze down with the European Bomb and covered him with an Imperium banner. This was a show of pure disrespe
Solid but unremarkable tag team match between two former sets of champions. Both teams played their roles fine, but this late into a feud? You’d expect more fire from both teams. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
