Following Hell in a Cell, the WWE looked to get the most out of the HIAC set up for one more match in what is rumored as how Xavier Woods is being writer of WWE TV.
It’s not a surprise given they’re obviously pushing Kofi Kingston to face Bobby Lashley, and Woods being “injured” is a great way to write him off to leave Kingston alone to fend for himself for the foreseeable future.
It also explains why Woods would have such a brilliant idea of challenging Lashley to a HIAC match as there was virtually no one that believed he had a chance of winning.
It was a great match that ended the night on a fired up note as Lashley tormented Kingston by keeping the Hurt Lock on Woods in the cage and beating him down.
And now it’s been reported by wrestlingnews.co ( https://wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/xavier-woods-may-be-off-wwe-tv-for-a-while/ ) that it appears Xavier Woods is off WW TV, and we think there’s going to be an added wrinkle thrown in.
Taking a break?
Given how Kevin Owens is taking a break and the WWE likes to give groups of talent off for a period here and there, it’s reasonable to expect that Woods could be taking time off.
With the WWE about ready to hit the road with an updated touring schedule, they may want certain talent to be well rested to come back.
The WWE also has a policy that reportedly rotates talent that is given time off and that’s why we often go week without seeing someone.
Woods’ busy schedule outside of the ring could also play a role in his time off TV as he mentioned on Tuesday that he’ll host the EA Play Live on July 22.
KofiMania 2.0
Woods being off TV effectively leaves Kingston alone, similar to his last run as WWE Champion where he had Woods and Big E’s support, but they never got involved, basically becoming background characters.
But that’s changed as Big E moved to Smackdown and has enjoyed a solid run there with plenty more possibilities to come.
And with Kingston getting his push in his feud with Lashley, we expect him to give us some awesome moments until Woods returns.
Why would it stop then? Well, we’re going on the theory the WWE loves to break up tag teams and this is almost set up perfectly for Woods to come back and turn on Kingston and join The Hurt Business.
This would be an incredible storyline, but we’d also love to see Kingston and Woods remain a team.
Woods’ time away, if true, opens the door for plenty of possibilities and we’re looking forward to see what’s coming.
Do you think Woods it taking time off and will he come back as Kingston’s friend or rival? Let us know in the comments below.
