While all women’s events have been nothing new for many in professional wrestling, the biggest example came with WWE Evolution in 2018. It was the first time WWE ever held an event with only their women’s roster, and a way to show how far they’ve come with their women’s evolution. Fans loved it, and it was listed among the best shows in 2018 due to excellent matches like the Last Woman Standing match between Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch.
Triple H Feels NXT Does Well Enough To Showcase Their Women’s Division Equally On Cards
Now with Mickie James & the National Wrestling Alliance looking to run a similar event, they’ve become a hot topic once again. In a press conference ahead of NXT Takeover: In Your House, Triple H would comment on potentially running another all women’s event.
“Equality is equality. Equality is not ‘I want my own show.’ Equality is not ‘we have to have our own program.’ If I told you that I was making an all men’s program and didn’t want women on it, it would be criticized…Will we do another all-women’s event down the line? Possibly, but it’s not a must-have at the moment. I think we do an amazing job of displaying our female athletes. Is it perfect? No. Will it always be in flux? Yes, but we do a pretty good job. In my opinion, the best female performers in the world are in WWE and if they are not, they want to be.”
Charlotte Flair Doesn’t Need An All Women’s Show To Stand Out
This rubbed some the wrong way, but not Charlotte Flair. She is comfortable on WWE cards alongside men, even main eventing over them on a few occasions including Wrestlemania. During an interview with Bleacher Report, Flair would back up the comments made by Triple H.
“Would an all-women’s show be great? Yes. Would another all-women’s pay-per-view be great? Yes. But I’m in the mindset that I want to be on the card with men. I want to be on the card where there’s eight matches and I want to be the best of the night no matter the gender. I don’t need an all-women’s show or an all-women’s pay-per-view to highlight my performance or skill or being a lady wrestler. No. I want to prove, no matter man or woman, I am the best. I think it’s great, but I don’t need an all-women’s show to show I’m a great wrestler.”
This is a stance that fans can more agree with. If Monday Night RAW & Smackdown Live put the same focus that NXT does on their women’s divisions, fans wouldn’t be asking constantly for an all women’s PPV. They simply want to see the women shown as equals on the cards alongside the men, and get to show their talents.
