This came as a shock to many of us as he was promoted as returning on the August 9 episode of WWE Raw after a hiatus since WrestleMania 37.
There have been plenty of rumors about why he wasn’t on WWE TV, with the most prominent being that Vince McMahon didn’t think he was in condition and sent him home.
It’s been reported that Wyatt’s been struggling with the death of his close friend Brody Lee, and that may have played a part in McMahon’s giving him time off if it is true.
No one but the two of them know for certain, but this caught a lot of us by surprise.
Lasting legacy
Wyatt has given us some of the best characters over the years in WWE, with his recent Mr. Rogers persona and The Fiend being the biggest thing to hit the WWE in a long time before problems with creative sidetracked him.
It was previously reported that he told someone the WWE writers get him and his ideas, but McMahon didn’t fully understand it and that may have played a role in the change from a dominate character to being beaten by Randy Orton so easily.
There was a possible spoiler about this and other releases the other day when Vince McMahon spoke about how he doesn’t view AEW as competition and he may send them more talent soon.
As reported by thewrestlingnerd_, McMahon said the following: “AEW is where they are. I don’t really know what their plans are, I don’t consider them competition in the way I considered WCW back in the day. Not even near close to that. I’m not so sure what their investments are as far as their talent is concerned. Perhaps we can give them some more.”
This is a difficult release to comprehend, but it’s the nature of the business and we wish him nothing but the best going forward.
