Prince George is going to be kept out of the spotlight following his attendance at the Euro 2020 final alongside his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Prince George Criticised Over His Attendance At The Euro 2020 Final
George, for his part, was pictured celebrating England taking the lead which would then turn out to be a heartbreak as Italy walked out as winners. While he was clearly overjoyed when England were winning, a subset of the public criticised George over how he conducted himself.
Some questioned why George had decided to wear the same suit and tie as his father, rather than donning the England shirt. After all, George is a child. Robert Jobson, who happens to be a Royal expert, remarked the following: “With George..some were critical about him wearing a shirt and tie like his dad, which I thought was very harsh.
“He has been very popular, but I think they are going to try and keep him out of the limelight a little bit.” This can be seen through the comments that were made on social media. People began to use George as a way to describe how the nation were feeling over England’s performance; that being, easily impressed one minute before worrying for the worst.
One fan on Twitter wrote: “Prince George sums up the mood of the nation,” while another said: “Hahahahahaahahahaha hope the little twerp cries into his tie.” Nevertheless, it was not all doom and gloom. Some members of the public took to George, as he reminded them of the passion that many children were feeling in the run-up to the final.
Given that the pandemic has disrupted the lives of many, in particular children, it was a moment of happiness that will live long in the memory. Another fan stated: “Prince George hugging his mom The Duchess of Cambridge at Wembley,” whereas another noted: “That footage of Prince George celebrating with his mum and dad was perfect.”
William and Kate will have to protect George from the media scrutiny that is going to follow him. Had England walked away as champions, then the mood on social media may have been entirely different.
