Prince Harry’s upcoming book is set to be the first of many after it was reported that he has signed a four-book deal.
Prince Harry Has Reportedly Signed A Four-Book Deal
Harry, for his part, has already shocked the Royals after confirming that he is going to release a memoir in line with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Harry has promised the public that he will reveal all on his life, given that he is no longer at the behest of the Royal family.
But with that, he has had to make some tough decisions. He has apparently agreed to only release one of his books until after Queen Elizabeth II has died. There is no speculation on what this book will include, but the implication is that it could be damaging towards the Queen.
And in keeping with that ruthless attitude, Harry reportedly showed the same single-mindedness when he conducted the negotiation surrounding this book deal. Harry had started out as requesting a figure of 18 million for his books but ended up walking out with so much more.
A source confirmed as much: “He had a very ‘take it or leave it’ attitude,’ said an impeccably-placed source in the publishing industry. His starting price was $25million, and the final figure was way north of that, possibly as much as $35-40million.”
It is true to say that there will be a lot of people interested in what Harry has to say. And yet, Harry made sure that everything happened on his terms. He managed to secure a book that will be written by his wife, Meghan Markle.
This will focus on wellness, which shows that the couple are making moves to stay off the financial support of the Royals. And the publishers were left shocked at just how frank Harry was. The source added: “Those involved were actually very shocked by his approach.
“In Britain, publishing is still a rather ‘gentlemanly’ industry. It’s high stakes but is still conducted in very genteel terms.” Once this book is released, there is a real chance that Harry will be ostracised from the Royal family forever. Time will tell how it all plays out.
