When it comes to recent releases from WWE, Tony Nese has been one that is making a surprising amount of noise. The Premiere Athlete was someone who really hit a quick ceiling in WWE, unable to ever break out of the Cruiserweight division or even get a steady role in NXT. However, despite this he was able to really capture a fanbase during his time on 205 Live. Right now, he’s working on getting a Twitch Channel started up, but he knows the two companies he has his eyes on for when his non-compete clause is finally up.
Tony Nese Is Interested In Both Impact Wrestling & All Elite Wrestling
While speaking on the Wrestling Perspective podcast, Nese would give his thoughts on what his next step in professional wrestling could be.
“I feel like I’d fit in IMPACT perfectly, I feel like I’d fit in a lot of places perfectly. My options are out there and I have a lot of discussions to make. I’m not saying anything… I have a lot of friends in AEW like Alex Reynolds and John Silver. Me and Alex have wrestled like 110 or 120 times. I’d love to add a couple more to that. Kenny Omega, I wrestled him on an Independent show. It was a small show and he was on a long tour and just like ‘let me get through this without getting hurt.’ Matt Sydal, I’ve never worked with him and would love to mix it up with him. I wouldn’t mind smacking MJF around.”
It’s hard to deny he’s a solid pick for the Impact Wrestling roster, where he could be a standout for the heavyweight or X-Division. When it comes to AEW, many see him as getting lost in the shuffle there should that be where he ends up.
Strong Work Ethic Will Take Nese Far
Nese has proven to consistently be an incredibly hard worker, showing up every week on 205 Live ready to give it all despite the lower viewership and lack of care from management. In an industry like professional wrestling, a strong work ethic can sometimes be more important than anything.
Because of that, the sky could be the limit for someone like Nese. However, we don’t know when he could show up. His non-compete clause is one of mystery, either being 30 or 90 days, and he’s been unable to speak about that. For now, he’s gonna be streaming on Twitch and hopefully making a move soon.
