One of the oddest and strange things we’ve come across recently is the reports of WWE officials not understanding why fans are angry at Karrion Kross losing to Jeff Hardy in 2 minutes on WWE Raw.
Fans immediately took to social media to let their feelings be known, and the WWE response was, well, typical WWE.
As reported by @wrestlingmaniac24___, this is only the first step in Kross’ path and it’s expected to be a big one.
On the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, Andrew Zarian reportedly said he was asked by someone in the WWE why fans were so upset and that there was a bigger story coming.
Zarian reportedly said (Special thanks to @wrestlingmaniac24___ for the transcript):
“You know what the justification is? He cheated, so it’s a cheap win, but he’s a former World Champion, so like it just shows you the lack of consistency with their champions. Jeff Hardy is a mega, mega star. He changed the industry for smaller guys. He created a new time of wrestler.”
“I asked about it and they said, ‘I don’t know why everyone is freaking out about this. It was just one step in the direction we have for Karrion Kross, and this is leading into something.”
Zarian also quipped, “Now the plan probably is that he is going to murder everybody.”
It makes no sense
The problem here is it doesn’t matter that it was a cheap win. The problem is there was absolutely no reason for Jeff Hardy to be that desperate so early in a match against someone he has no history with.
It’s not even about listening to the fans, it’s just storytelling 101 and the main reason for their ratings slide the past year and needing to bring back Legends to help right the ship.
Fans did more than speak out on social media as they expressed their frustration during NXT tapings for next week when they chanted “Hardy” loud enough during Kross’ entrance.
Because their chants could be heard on the tape, they had to reshoot it afterwards so he’d have a clean entrance.
Sadly, we suspect this has to do with the continued practice of hiring writers that don’t know wrestling or haven’t watched or researched those they’re writing about.
But even worse is that this had to be greenlit by the person they write for — Vince McMahon.
