As we are only one week away from All Out, fans know the full card. There are ten announced matches, from CM Punk vs. Darby Allin, to Paul Wight vs. QT Marshall, to Britt Baker vs. Kris Statlander. This last one had a few fans scratching their heads, as it seemed an obvious choice to run back Baker and her greatest rival; Thunder Rosa, at this big event. However, this match is being saved for a show where it’ll take center stage.
AEW Might Be Saving This Match For A Main Event Slot
As first reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW are holding off on this match on purpose. They know it’ll draw big business, especially after the violence of their Lights Out Dynamite main event. However, with a big feud like this, you need to give it the space it needs – and All Out is not that space.
All Out is a stacked show, and will have the in-ring return of CM Punk, as well as potentially the AEW debut of Daniel Bryan and retirement of Chris Jericho. Those will eclipse all other stories coming out of this show, and very easily overtake any hype a rematch between Rosa & Baker will have. Instead, Statlander will get a chance to shine, and Rosa will get a longer build to a potential main event level match.
AEW only runs a few PPV events each year, but it will only be a matter of time before their women’s division gets that coveted closing spot. They need to put more effort into their women’s division before it gets to this point, but it might even be a great way for them to truly get things moving in the correct direction.
Thunder Rosa Will Be The The Casino Battle Royale – But Likely Won’t Win Given This News
However, if you’re a big Thunder Rosa fan, worry not. She will still be on the show, just as part of the Casino Battle Royale. With the prize being a shot at Britt Baker, it’s unlikely she will get the win, unless the plan is for Hayter & Rebel to screw over Rosa in the eventual match and show that Baker fears her.
Right now, the expected winner is Ruby Soho, who will be making her debut at the event. Soho has been building up hype on social media, and will be free to debut just ahead of the show as her non-compete clause with WWE comes to an end.
