When FTR signed with AEW, fans were over the moon to see one of the best tag teams in the world truly get unleashed. What followed was some excellent tag team wars, taking the AEW World Tag Team Championships off Kenny Omega & Hangman Page, and having the dream match with The Young Bucks that everyone wanted. However, all things must eventually come to an end, including this team – as in their last match, Cash Wheeler suffered a major injury.
FTR Will Have One More Ride On Dynamite Against Santana & Ortiz
The last time we saw FTR wrestle a tag team match was against Santana & Ortiz. This was a match that fans have been wanting since FTR came to AEW, and it didn’t disappoint… until Cash Wheeler cut his arm open on the turnbuckle. It was an injury that was much worse than it first seemed, with Wheeler taking to social media to explain the damage.
“I had a hook stab into my arm and rip it open. For almost a month I’ve been dealing with loss of grip strength, loss of feeling/nerve damage, and wondering if this is even worth it anymore. If this is the end, we’re taking a pound of flesh with us.” Nerve damage is not something to mess around with, but Wheeler is ready to get back into the ring for perhaps one last match with Santana & Ortiz.
FTR have really been pushing that this is the end of their teaming, and if that is the case we can expect Santana & Ortiz to get the win. This would get them closer to a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships, which fans hope to see them challenge for at the first New York show in AEW history.
Could Harwood Survive As A Singles Wrestler?
However, if Wheeler is done, could Dax Harwood have a good push as a singles star? He’s already an established star, despite not having many singles matches in AEW. One excellent match with Jungle Boy showed that he can go just as hard in a singles match as he does in a tag team match, but he might lack the charisma to stand out on the stacked AEW roster.
Being in The Pinnacle and having Tully Blanchard to act as his mouthpiece could help him out bigtime, but fans will always view him as a tag team wrestler. Could you take Dax Harwood seriously as a singles threat? Are FTR truly going to be done as a team soon? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
