Impact Wrestling is getting back into the subscription service to view their weekly show for those that don’t get their channel on their networks, and it hit a slight snag.
This week’s IMPACT! and Before the Impact (BTI) were officially moved from their Twitch channel to their Youtube channel where fans can watch for $.99 or $4.99 a month and an Impact Wrestling Insider.
The latter gets more behind the scenes videos and deals.
It’s a pretty cool concept and keeps the cost low for fans and offers other benefits.
The only problem is they didn’t endear themselves to fans with the sudden move.
Already in progress
For a couple of weeks, Impact has been airing their show on Youtube, so it made sense they were going to move from Twitch at some point.
The problem is, many didn’t know about it. We didn’t see it on their site, and if it wasn’t for hearing about it second hand we may have missed this week’s show entirely.
On Twitch, there were plenty of fans talking about not watching anymore because of the charge, and that’s something that always happens as fans adjust, and come and go.
The biggest problem came when BTI aired a half hour after it started, and IMPACT! was an hour in before Impact Wrestling shared it on Twitter.
I was on their Youtube channel updating for new videos and in the community section where it was supposed to be and it wasn’t there.
Personal touch
What was really cool was an Impact Wrestling mod thanked us for watching and welcomed us to return next week.
Some fans pointed out they’ll be back if the show starts on time and/or they’re able to find it on Youtube next time.
The mod said they’ll take care of it, so we’re happy with that and look forward to watching it going forward.
Steadier play
For whatever reasons, glitches and crashes were semi frequent on Twitch, but it was a lot smoother on Youtube, plus we could pause, rewind, and fast forward to see various segments again.
It was a pretty cool experience, and there weren’t and of the commercials they showed on Twitch, which helped give the show a pay-per-view feel.
To be honest, we don’t mind the show starting an hour later, we just wish we could’ve found some kind of information on what was happening.
While snags like these are regular when new streams are set up, it just felt strange they were a factor after putting the show up for a couple of weeks, but we’re willing to give them a chance.
