Last night, we saw the end of an era in WWE NXT. The Undisputed Finale saw Kyle O’Reilly & Adam Cole go to war for perhaps the final time as they had a two out of three falls match. It was more like the old Three Stages of Hell match, with each fall having a different stipulation. First fall was won by O’Reilly, in just a straight up match. Second fall went to Cole in a street fight. Third and final fall in a steel cage saw O’Reilly get the final fall and the win. However, this was the end of Cole in WWE NXT all together, with his future unclear he’s now a free agent.
WWE Pushed Hard For Him To Sign, But No Deal Announced Yet
Ever since the news of Cole’s WWE contract ending came up, WWE has been frantic in trying to keep him onboard. He signed an extension to finish this feud with O’Reilly, but that only took him through this weekend. Amidst WWE cutting talent like they mean nothing, it’s a hard time for them to negotiate, though apparently talks went well between Cole & Vince McMahon.
He is not presently booked for tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW, but WWE tends to cool NXT talent off before they make their debuts. We might not see him until the WWE draft in October given that stance, allowing WWE to try to debut him with more hype. However, there is almost certainly another offer on the table.
Adam Cole Could Be Ready To Go From Undisputed To Elite
Prior to signing with WWE for their NXT brand, Adam Cole was a member of Bullet Club & The Elite. He’d go his own way, while The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega started up AEW. Since then, AEW has rapidly grown, and it could be time for them to bring it yet another star. After CM Punk, Adam Cole wouldn’t be the biggest debut ever, but would still be very exciting for fans.
Add in that his girlfriend Britt Baker is there as their Women’s Champion, and that he used her finisher in his match with O’Reilly? That might be enough for him to pick AEW. Right now is simply not a good time with WWE, as contracts are worth as much as the paper they are printed on. They have been cutting even top merch sellers like Bray Wyatt, so could Cole really feel confident signing there again?
