With so many moves coming in the WWE through releases and contracts ending, it’s a hectic time to keep track of our favorites, but one rumor circulating is that Sami Zayn may be AEW bound.
Yep, amidst all the WWE releases to help their profit margin (budgetary cuts), Sami Zayn has slipped under the notice of many fans since he’s been absent from WWE TV for a few weeks.
The current rumor is that Zayn’s contract runs out this month or in September and he’s unhappy with his booking.
It’s been reported by Fightful.com that he signed a three year deal in June 2018 but it was extended due to injuries.
If this is accurate, then it’s a question of how many injuries and how long was he on the shelf, and since fans are speculating he’s free any time now we’ll go with that for the moment.
All Elite
Zayn has plenty of detractors for various reasons, but his skill on the mic and in the ring is among the best and can’t be questioned.
A perfect example was when he was in Canada during the early days of the pandemic, he let his hair and beard grow longer than usual and adopt a wild man look to make him look more unhinged as a heel.
It’s the small things like that we often to see or recognize and it’s a mark of genius.
That kind of mindset is the perfect thing to have and could really add a new element to AEW if he goes there either as a heel or a face.
I once referred to him as being in a similar mold to Bobby Heenan (no one can really compare to Heenan), and he could really shake things up on both sides of the aisle.
There are so many feuds and factions he can get tied up with from trying to take over the Dark Order to feuding with Eddie Kingston with some off the chain mic wars.
Always speculating
Of course, we’re getting ahead of ourselves as all of these rumors could be just that and Zayn is happy in WWE.
It’s for him to know and us to find out if he wants to share his thoughts with us, and whether he stays in the WWE or goes to AEW or another company we wish him nothing but the best and can’t wait to see him in action.
