Ric Flair recently requested his release and granted it, and since then, he has appeared on many different platforms, including AAA and NWA, in the short period of time since his release. It also speculated he will arrive on AEW and Impact in the near future, but nothing has been confirmed yet. However, Ric Flair has now gone into detail about why he wanted to leave WWE and what he said to Vince McMahon when he left the company
What Ric had to say about leaving
On Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions, he went into detail about why he left and what he said to Vince.
“I had a bunch of pending opportunities. I had things that I was doing currently at the time I signed my contract. They allowed those. Wendy got to keep her shop. These are big things. I got to keep Cameo and a couple other things. A couple of deals were coming along, and I got to the point where I was asking them. I probably exhausted them asking, not to grandfather me in, but to let me do them. Of course, the answer was, ‘You can do them, maybe’. I wanted to finally – which I did for three years – make a living not being under a wrestling payroll. That’s all it was. There is no animosity. It’s just business. I wanted to try something, and they had a different vision.”
What Ric said to Vince
“I talked to Vince after it was over, and I said, ‘Whatever paths our lives take us, we’re always going to be brothers’. He said, ‘You’re damn right. Ashley (Charlotte) would never leave there; she’s the happiest she’s ever been. Obviously, they’re not mad at me.”

It does seem like Vince and Ric are still on good ground with it being said that he will mention to Vince before he does certain things, for example, going to AEW. There seems to still be a lot of respect between the both of them.
Ric Flair did go into detail on some other topics. The full podcast is currently available.
