We are quickly approaching the next NXT Takeover event. Simply titled NXT Takeover 36, there are still a few unknowns surrounding this show. We don’t know the full card, or if it will take place in the Capitol Wrestling Center or in Las Vegas to make sure Summerslam isn’t the only show in town that weekend. However what we do know are three huge matches, all of which could rightfully main event the show. Let’s break down all three, and try to figure out which one will be the main event.
Samoa Joe vs. Karrion Kross Might Be A Better Opening Match
Probably the biggest match announced for the show in the eyes of many is Karrion Kross vs. Samoa Joe. This is the culmination of months of Kross being completely out of control, and recently abusing both Samoa Joe & William Regal. It also is going to be the in-ring return of Samoa Joe, as he looks for a record third NXT Championship reign.
However, having this match open the show might be the better choice, depending on the results. If Joe is to tear through Kross in a show of dominance, that would be an incredible way to start a Takeover event and really get a crowd going. If it’s set to be a drawn out battle with Joe barely slipping out as the win, it might be better suited to the main event spot.
Adam Cole Will Be Getting His NXT Send-Off
Another huge match that we’re set to see is the conclusion of the feud between Kyle O’Reilly & Adam Cole. This has been something that has been brewing since the start of the year, and one way or another is the NXT sendoff of Adam Cole. He’s set to become a free agent following the match, and if he stays in WWE he’s on his way to RAW or Smackdown.
With the chemistry of these two men, the match is certain to be incredible and worthy of the main event slot. Add in the insane history of Adam Cole in NXT, and it might be right to give him a big send off to close out the event, something only possible with this match in the main event slot.
The Potential End Of The Longest Championship Reign In NXT
Finally we come to the NXT UK Championship match. WALTER has been champion for a staggering 856 days, the longest reign in WWE as a whole at the moment. He’s facing one of his greatest challenges in Ilja Dragunov, who’s last clash truly redefined what a violent match could be. Now they get to do it again, this time with a major crowd.
If WALTER is to be dethroned, the main event spot might be the place to do it. It would help make Dragunov feel like a huge deal, as it would truly be a big accomplishment. WALTER has never lost in a singles match since joining WWE, making him a true final boss type.
