While AEW brings in major names like CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, and potentially even Bray Wyatt, it’s important they continue to bring in some talented younger names. Doing so will prevent a major crash when major names leave, something we’re currently seeing in WWE. Names like Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia and more are in the conversation on who AEW should sign, but fans would be fools to sleep on Jora Johl.
Jora Johl Gets A Big Win And Mentor
This past week on AEW Dark: Elevation, Jora Johl would get the opening match. He came out alongside the legendary Matt Hardy, and would get his first singles win in AEW over Kal Herro in just over a minute. A slap from Hardy got Johl fired up, and he’d nail a jaw shattering pump kick to get the win. Afterwards, we’d see Hardy & Johl cut a promo to hype up the deal with AEW in India.
Hardy would have Johl translate his promos into Punjabi, while Johl eventually just says that Hardy has a giant head. The plan is for Hardy to make huge money in India with Johl, which could be the plan with AEW as well. India is a major market for professional wrestling, and having someone talented like Johl on hand will help easily slip in a talent to represent this region on shows like Dark, Dynamite and Rampage.
Wrestled On The Indies As ‘Robo The Punjabi Lion’
Fans of the indies will recognize Johl as Robo The Punjabi Lion, having competed in places such as Beyond Wrestling, ICW, and more. He has been putting in the work over the last few years, and has proven to be great between the ropes. However, with just four years of experience under his belt, he’s very much still a rookie with lots to learn.
Coming in with some skills, a great look, and being stuck with Matt Hardy seems like a recipe for eventual success. He could very well be placed among names like Dante Martin, Sammy Guevara, Austin Gunn, Lee Johnson and MJF as future stars of the industry – provided he can get the chance.
