We’ve seen six men fall in the NXT Breakout tournament, with just two left standing. Carmelo Hayes has taken down both Josh Briggs & Duke Hudson to get to the finals, while Odyssey Jones crushed both Andre Chase & Trey Baxter. The winner of this match will get a title shot of their choice in NXT, which will likely be against NXT Champion Samoa Joe. Who will prove to be the next breakout star of WWE NXT?
Odyssey Jones Is The Fan Favorite
Jones would be the fan favorite as this one began, and the favorite of many to win the tournament from the start. The size and speed was a lot for Hayes as this one started, with Jones putting him up top before Hayes grabbed a headlock. Jones easily moved him away, and almost took him down with a shoulder tackle. Hayes went for a handshake and looked for a headlock, before being tossed aside.
A huge hip toss would send Hayes across the ring and to the outside, before Jones helped Hayes back into the ring. Hayes would nail a dropkick to the face, and then the knee. He would need to cut Jones down to get the win, and he was proving that he could do just that. We’d go to a commercial break, and when back, we’d see Jones in the corner getting his legs kicked time and time again.
But Carmelo Hayes Was Simply Better Tonight
Jones would shove Hayes off, before getting him on the top rope and nail some hammering blows to the midsection. Hayes would slap on a sleeper hold, but Jones was able to shove him off with ease. However, Hayes would go for a front headlock and was finally wearing him down. A big pump kick and a springboard lariat would barely stun Jones, but Hayes kept going.
The spinning facebuster and an axe kick would get a two count, before Jones sent Hayes flying off. He’d counter another facebuster into a shoulder breaker, before missing a corner spear and hitting the post. Hayes would go up top for the super scissor kick, and Jones wouldn’t stay down. That was his best shot, but Hayes would go for it again and miss. Jones hit a big splash, and looked to have the win before being rolled up in a crucifix for the win.
