When it comes to overcoming deep odds, Ilja Dragunov defeating WALTER and ending the longest championship reign of the modern era? That was huge. But he is the new NXT UK Champion, and has the battle scars to prove that he might be the toughest man in WWE today. Tonight, he’s back on NXT, and has something to say.
Ilja Dragunov Wanted To Show Everyone That He’s Still Alive
Dragunov was practically limping to the ring, as is expected with the absolute carnage that match was. He’d get a ‘You deserve it’ chant from the crowd, and that delayed his promo. Before he goes back to NXT UK, he wanted to show everyone that he’s still alive. He feels more alive than ever before – like someone who survived the biggest fight of their life.
Dragunov likes it here, and he will be back. However, he’s shown what it takes to be the NXT UK champion. The will, the passion, the soul & the struggle were all on display. So who will show those in an attempt to take the title away from him? The Ring General has fallen, and now NXT UK has the Czar instead.
Carmello Hayes Gets Threatened, Imperium Are Mad
Carmello Hayes would show up with his contract, and discuss his options. A rematch with KUSHIDA could be next, or maybe he’ll tackle Swerve and get the NXT North American Championship. Perhaps he’ll even go after Samoa Joe. Crashing his interview would be Legado Del Fantasma, who has a claim on the NXT North American Championship. They threatened to take Hayes out, something which wasn’t appreciated and could lead to a match itself.
Drake Maverick would hit the ring with a new partner in Greyson Waller, taking on Imperium in tag team action. Aichner would start off by beating Waller down, who was taking them lightly. He’d throw some blows at Bartel, before being chopped into a corner and sent flying with a butterfly suplex. Imperium are mad after WALTER lost his championship, and suffered a recent loss to MSK.
Waller would get a tag to Maverick, who would go after Aichner with his insane speed to cut him down before being sent with a backdrop. Waller tagged himself in and was booted in the face. Maverick was thrown into a support beam at ringside, and Imperial Bomb gets the win.
