Ever since Cameron Grimes lost to LA Knight trying to win the Million Dollar Championship, he’s been his butler. This is despite Grimes having more money than Knight, and mainly being a hindrance. Last week they went golfing and clashed with The Grizzled Young Veterans, and tonight Knight & Grimes will team up to take on the former NXT UK Tag Team Champions in the ring. Even better, Grimes is wrestling in his Butler costume.
Grizzled Young Veterans Are Soon To Be Recognized As NXT’s Best Team
There was a lot of doubt if Grimes & Knight could get along for this match against such a strong team like GYV, and on paper this was a mismatch. Grimes would start the match with Gibson, and was the best dressed man to ever wrestle in an NXT ring. He’d grab a wrist lock and make a tag to Knight, who took control with a punch.
Knight tried to throw Gibson into the corner but Drake acted as a shield to stop the impact. Drake tagged in, but Knight countered a suplex into a neckbreaker. Grimes got a tag and was a flying butler, but missed a blind tag to Gibson who knee’d Grimes’ throat first into the bottom rope.
LA Knight Abandoned Cameron Grimes
A double lariat from GYV would drop Grimes before he’d end up in a sleeper hold and from Gibson. He’d fight like hell to break free, but Knight didn’t accept the tag when Grimes hit the corner and he told Grimes to just win the match. Grimes fired up and took his jacket off, but a two on one attack was hard to stop.
He’d hold his ground with a double hurricanrana and a PK, before nailing the Spanish Fly in the middle of the ring on Drake for a two count. The Technical Butler Savage looked for Cave-In, but the two on one edge led to GYV nailing Ticket To Mayhem to win what quickly became a handicap match.
Some solid tag team work from GYV, and a great continuation of the storyline between Grimes & Knight. Grimes put on a fiery babyface flurry at the end, showing how far he’s come as a fan favorite. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
