Under the guidance of Roman Reigns, The Usos have become more dangerous than ever before. They were able to beat the Father/Son duo of Rey & Dominik Mysterio to claim the Smackdown Tag Team Championships. However tonight the generational duo will get a chance to reclaim their gold. It’s been about one year since Dominik made his debut at Summerslam 2020, so it’s time to prove he’s improved since then.
Rey Mysterio Comes In Hot
Jimmy & Rey would start, and Rey started fast by sending Jimmy to the outside. A basement dropkick would stun him, before Dominik sent Jey out before Rey dove onto both. Back in the ring, Dominik would start up the Three Amigos, before looking for a Frog Splash. However, in his limited experience, Dominik missed a tag and was shoved off the top rope to the floor by Jey.
Jey would drive him into the ringpost, before taking him into the ring. Dominik would reach for a tag before being thrown across the ring. Usos would hit a double team backbreaker, before going for a running splash. Dominik was being isolated in the corner, but would show some fight before running right into an uppercut. Jey would follow up with a suplex, but the Usos were getting too confident here.
The Usos Are Better Than Ever
Dominik would finally counter a suplex into a neckbreaker, before tagging in Rey. Rey was ready to go, and would nail a springboard moonsault into a DDT for a two count. Jimmy would roll Rey up before nailing a superkick for a two count. The Usos went for a pop up powerbomb, before Rey sent Jimmy to the outside. However, he’d crossbody into a superkick, before being hit with an Uso Splash for a two count.
A double Uso Splash was the plan, but Dominik would make the save before being thrown onto the apron by Jey. Jimmy would however end up in position for the 619, and Rey would hit a PK on Jimmy before heading up top. He’d call out to Eddie, but get knees on the frog splash before being sandwiched by superkicks, and hit with an Uso Splash for the win.
Aside from Dominik spending most of this match either getting beat down or throwing out poor looking offense, this was a fine match. Rey Mysterio is as good as ever and we’ve never seen the Usos better than they’ve been; which gave this match some excellent moments. Match Rating: 3/5 (*)
