Prince Philip may no longer be here, but that does not mean that the Royal family have forgotten the contribution he had made to the monarchy.
A Boat Has Been Made In Prince Philip’s Memory
Philip, for his part, passed away at the age of 99 approximately five months ago. While his death had been overshadowed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah Winfrey interview, the Royals have now paid tribute to him in the best possible manner.
In honour of Philip, the Royals confirmed that the Royal National Lifeboat Institution will be naming a boat in recognition of him. In an official statement on Instagram, the Royals revealed: “The @rnli have announced that their new state-of-the-art lifeboat will be named after His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh.”
So what will the boat be called? Well, it looks as though it will be named, ‘’Duke of Edinburgh.’ This is in recognition of the scheme, by the same, that Philip created in order to enable young people develop skills that would be valuable to them in their lives.
The boat, though, is not just symbolic in nature. Philip was part of the Royal Navy during his earlier years, and as a way to commemorate him, the boat will be made available for the public to see.
The post added: “The lifeboat will go into service at Wells-next-the-Sea in late 2022.” Prior to his death, the boat would have celebrated his 100th year alive. But as destiny would have it, he would not live to make it.
Despite his death, Philip’s prior comments suggested that he was not looking forward to hitting the 100 mark. Such comments should be read in light of the fact that Philip had bad health.
In a previous interview with The Telegraph, he said: “I can’t imagine anything worse [hitting 100]. Bits of me are falling off already.”
Philip is no longer here, but the boat will serve as an example of the huge influence he had on the Royal family. And were it not for him, then the chances of Queen Elizabeth II staying strong through the years would have been very small.
And that is how Philip will ultimately be remembered. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below. Remember to stay up to date with the latest news on TheOvertimer. Don’t forget to visit Screenstinger for great videos, news, and gameplay!
