Darby Allin might have been unable to defeat CM Punk in Chicago, but he’s not done yet. However, his next rival is Shawn Spears – and this one isn’t about Darby. It’s about Sting, who Tully Blanchard wants to drive out of AEW. Spears will look to take out Allin first, allowing focus on Sting. Allin would call Spears a Generic Piece of Shit, but tonight he’ll prove The Chairman is anything but.
Shawn Spears Bends The Rules
Before this match, CM Punk was taken out by Team Taz – ending his excellent commentary. Allin took a moment in the corner, and was nailed with a knee strike before being suplexed to the outside. Spears would throw him spine first into the steel steps. Allin would be sandwiched between the steps and the knee of Spears, before he’d dodge and take the steel himself.
Spears used Blanchard as a shield, and was able to get the better of Allin. He’d wash the face paint of Allin off with a wet towel, trying to rip his personality away. Allin would get some punches in, but he was not 100% this week. He’s had matches with CM Punk and Daniel Garcia recently, as well as took the C4 on the floor last week from Spears. Spears would rain down some hard punches to the face, and would apply the Sharpshooter – or maybe tonight it’s a Scorpion Deathlock.
Darby Allin Doesn’t Die
Allin would be able to break free, and got a two count off the Code Red. He’d go up top and be caught by Spears. Spears climbed up but was shaved down. His knee was trapped in the ropes, but the chain of Allin was used to pull him down. Spears looked for the C4 onto the steps, but took a stunner and cannonball dive instead. Allin nailed Coffin Drop, and got the win.
After the match, FTR would enter the ring and get physical with Sting & FTR. Tully would get into it with Sting as well, but FTR would make it three on one. Allin would be taken down, and the Spike Piledriver landed on Sting, before Tully wiped the face paint of Sting off.
