‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that while out on a double date, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) formed an unlikely friendship. While Nate took over most of the night with his stories, there was a brief break in there while the ladies, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) went to “freshen up”.
During this moment, Ashland explained that he thought Nate was different around him because he was a doctor, but he finds out that Nate was once engaged to someone who passed away and that’s why he’s so calm around him, he’s been a place where he experienced someone dying before.

Ashland furthers this by asking them to the wedding and seemingly asking Nate to be his best man. When Nate asks if he has friends from New York who would go, Ashland kind of writes it off and explains that they were business friends, it’s not the same thing.
However, some feel like Ashland is just getting close to Nate because having a doctor for a close friend while “faking an illness” could come in handy. This is assuming that Ashland is really faking and he needs a doctor close by to either fool or learn how to play this off better.
Otherwise, this unlikely friendship would almost seem sweet, but there does feel like there’s more going on here that we don’t understand. While it seems most viewers enjoyed the double date and these characters getting to know each other, there was something off about it.
