While NXT 2.0 is bringing something new to the NXT brand, NXT UK holds onto the Hallmarks of the brand. Strong action is found in every match, and tonight had two matches with big implications for the coming weeks of the Red & Gold brand. The finals of the Heritage Cup tournament were set, and Ilja Dragunov gets to know who’s up first for his NXT UK Championship.
Wolfgang Moves Forward, Isla Dawn Has A Crush?
The show would open up with the match to decide who faces Noam Dar in finals of the Heritage Cup tournament. Teoman would take on Wolfgang of Gallus, who would join him at ringside. Rohan Raja was there to help Teoman, but he’d take a fall in just the first round. In round three he’d be able to get help from Raja to even the score. This one was fast paced and hard hitting, and ended in just the fourth round with a huge spear – Wolfgang moving forward.
We’d hear from Blair Davenport, who was formerly known as Bea Priestley. She’s been suspended for a vicious assault on Nina Samuels, but keeps attacking people in NXT UK anyways. This will continue until she gets reinstated.
Speaking of people who are vicious, Isla Dawn has been getting more and more dangerous in recent months. She’s been getting darker and darker, taking trophies from opponents to use in her witchcraft. Jinny caught her going through her locker, and wanted a match. They’d really lay in the strikes in a quick match, which ended when Dawn got eyes for Joseph Conners and took The Makeover. This one is far from over, and is an interesting storyline.
Preview Of Next Week, A-Kid Punches Ticket To Title Shot
Ahead of the main event, we’d get some previews of what to expect from next week. Gallus would take over the locker room of Jordan Devlin, setting up a match between Devlin & Joe Coffey. Charlie Dempsey will be making his in-ring debut for NXT UK, and promises to bring something more old school to the table. Trent Seven challenged Ashton Smith & Oliver Carter to a tag team match, Tyler Bate will find out later. Dani Luna & Xia Brookside will test power vs. speed.
Power vs. speed is also a story in the main event, but add technique in as well. Nathan Frazer, Rampage Brown & A-Kid would meet in a triple threat match to determine who gets the first shot at Ilja Dragunov. Brown was an instant target, but partnerships never last in matches with high stakes. Every man would get chances to shine, with Frazer showing his Seth Rollins influence. However it was a jumping superkick from A-Kid to Frazer that ended it.
