Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Live Results!
Tonight has the potential to be an awesome one as we look back at the last twenty years when Smackdown was the first public gathering following the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001.
There’s plenty of action tonight as well, and we can’t wait.
We’re going to grab some snacks but we’ll be back at the 8 p.m. EST showtime to get WWE Smackdown Live Results rolling.
Segment 1
The show started with an awesome tribute to the people we lost on 9/11 and America’s ability to come together afterwards.
Roman Reigns came out with the Usos and Paul Heyman, but Lesnar interrupted MSG acknowledging him.
He then got Heyman in trouble by asking why didn’t he tell Reigns he was coming to SummerSlam. Heyman tried to play the role of advocate when Reigns and the Usos left but Lesnar wasn’t having it.
Reigns and the Usos returned and hit Lesnar with a Superman Punch and a series of superkicks, but Lesnar totaled the Usos as Reigns ran off.
Segment 2
Sami Zayn w/Trae Young, Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, Otis w/Chad Gable, Apollo Crews w/ Commander Azeez vs. King Nakamura, Rick Boogs, Big E, Dominik Mysterio, Rey Mysterio
This was unexpected, but it started out fast as Nakamura took on Ziggler and Roode before Otis threw him to the floor, then stood on his midsection in the ring as we headed to commercial.
Segment 3
A spot fest ensued and Big E hit a Big Ending on Zayn for the win.
Segment 4
The Smackdown Women’s contract signing went without much of an incident and they had Belair out there first and without Lynch so she could connect with the fans first.
Lynch came out as arrogant as you please and signed the contract.
Segment 5
Edge vs. Seth Rollins
This started off with some good move reverses, but Rollins gained the upper hand and sent Edge to the floor with a knee and hit a suicide dive as we headed to commercial.
Segment 6
Rollins put on a clinic as he went after Edge like a surgeon, but Edge fought back and hit an axhandle off the top rope to the floor as we headed to commercial.
Segment 7
This was an awesome match that finally ended after Rollins hit three superkicks and a Stomp for the win. The ref called for the EMTs and a stretcher after the match.
Segment 8
Edge was taken away in an ambulance for a neck injury and Rollins looks shaken to his core and doesn’t know what he’s supposed to think now.
Reigns asked Heyman why didn’t he tell him about Lesnar at SumerSlam
Segment 9
Smackdown Tag Team Championship – The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) (c) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford)
Ford started it fast with a dropkick and pin attempt on Jimmy, but Jimmy knocked him off the apron and hit a suicide dive as we headed to commercial.
Segment 10
The Street Profits sent the Usos to the floor and Ford hit a dive on both of them and Reigns came out and headed to the ring as the commercial break started.
Segment 11
Ford hit a From the Heavens abut Reigns grabbed him to DQ the Usos and locked in a guillotine while the Usos beat down Dawkins.
Reigns then accepted Lesnar’s challenge for after he crushes Finn Balor at Extreme Rules. The lights went out and turned red as the Demon came out and stood across from Reigns.
Reigns looked mildly interested and not intimidated at all.
This was the best Smackdown in a long time, and we hope they can continue this type of storytelling instead of going back to what they were giving up.
