It was initially reported that AEW and Impact’s relation was over after Bound for Glory, where Josh Alexander beat Christian Cage for the Impact champions. After this, a new feud was made by Moose, who cashed in his championship shot to beat Josh and become the champion.
Making the AEW star feel like a second thought. This felt like the end to the relationship, but it seemed like the end to Christian’s run as champion was always planned to end like this. Making it likely that another story will start soon between both companies. Dave Meltzer has reported that both sides are open to more crossovers.
AEW and Impact are open to continuing partnership
In the Wrestling Observer, this was said about the future of the relationship between both companies:
“It’s getting talked about like that but not quite accurate. Cage dropping the title at BFG was the end of the story that started last December. That was the plan since the spring. The door is open to do more, but nothing planned for the short-term.”
What could be the next match between the companies?
There has been many talks of another crossover between both companies. One of the matches discussed is Britt Baker and former Impact Knockout champion Deonna Purrazzo. With even both wrestlers pitching the idea for the match.
There are also some hints that Sami Callihan will appear in AEW with Jon Moxley, but it’s unlikely to happen for a while due to an injury. Looking through both rosters, there is a possibility for a lot more crossovers. However, it currently feels like AEW haven’t used the crossover enough compared to Impact.
