When it comes to promotions that could be described as offbeat, we can’t not mention DDT Pro Wrestling. They are truly a promotion that has had it all. Great wrestlers like Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega got their starts there, and that legacy continues with names like Konosuke Takeshita and Tetsuya Endo. However, they’re mostly known for some absurd comedy matches that come from the promotion. They are truly a promotion of variety – and that variety could be on display soon.
The Road To 100k Subscribers For DDT Pro-Wrestling
Right now, DDT have 90k subscribers on their official YouTube channel. This is pretty impressive, and growth has been steady. However, the real fun will begin when they hit 99k subscribers – as their president Sanshiro Takagi wants to do a unique show – where the fans will decide how long it goes for.
The plan is to start the show at 99k subscribers, and not stop until they reach their goal of 100k. Knowing DDT – they might just end in the middle of a match if they hit their goal, leaving fans in the dark. It could end in the middle of a promo. This could last a few minutes or a few days. It’s an incredibly unique idea, and something that to our knowledge has never been done before.
A More Simple Telethon Has Also Been Pitched
There has also been a 24-Hour wrestling telethon also was pitched by Sanshiro Takagi. This has been done before, by GCW earlier this year. They did it in themed blocks, meaning more like a ton of tiny shows instead of one huge flowing event. That was a great time, and GCW offers almost as much variety as DDT.
This makes this a proven idea, and with a global fanbase – this might be better. Word of a Road to 100k Subscriber stream would cause them to hit their goal very quickly, but a 24 Hour Telethon could see them rise far above the goal and perhaps even closer to 110k subscribers.
