We recently covered how Tony Kahn may be kicking off a war with WWE that doesn’t need to happen or be fought, and it looks like Eric Bischoff is thinking along the same lines and he shared his thoughts on his podcast, 83 Weeks.
As the former head of WCW, Bischoff knows a thing or two about facing Vince McMahon and the WWE head to head in a legitimate competition as he not only did so, but topped WWE Raw for 83 straight weeks.
The Monday Nights Wars were an awesome time to be a wrestling fans as it was everywhere and the action was out of this world. We had awesome matches, promos, and storylines all coming together on a weekly basis.
Shut up and wrestle.
I have a few things to get off my chest today on @83Weeks. Catch it now over at https://t.co/NGhpdGVUFd pic.twitter.com/8cBuUfvhCL

AEW’s head to head
Last Friday, October 15, WWE Smackdown, the WWE’s top show at the moment, went nose to nose with AEW Rampage, AEW’s second show.
Plus, Smackdown was n FS1 instead of Fox, and that historically has given them sub 1 million ratings, and it was a chance for AEW to prove themselves after they won the Wednesday Night Wars, as dubbed by fans.
All AEW had to do was keep putting on good shows and let the fans choose. Instead, Kahn called out WWE and proclaimed AEW would win the night. Kahn even did a Buy In on Friday night to draw more attention away from the WWE.
Oddly enough, Kahn’s previously stated he’s not trying to make the same mistakes WCW did. Well…
“Shut up and wrestle, dude”
Bischoff, who should be noted as worked with AEW a few times, shared his thoughts on 83 Weeks.
Special thanks to Wrestlinginc.com for the transcript.
“If Tony [Khan] were to call me and ask for any advice, here’s what it would be — shut up and wrestle, dude,” Bischoff said. “Just put out the best product you can and you’ve proven you can. Focus on that. Now this is weird coming from me, right? The guy who challenged Vince McMahon. The guy who gave away their finishes. But here’s the difference. I was actually competing with him. I was going head-to-head. Real head-to-head. Like, my show started the same time his show started each and every week.”
Remember what we said about Kahn not wanting to repeats WCW’s mistakes? Bischoff addressed that, too.
“And another thing, Tony comes out and says ‘We’re at the 1996 stage of WCW and going to not make their mistakes.’ Tony, you’re inventing some mistakes, brother,” Bischoff stated. “By coming out there and constantly comparing yourself or deriding your competition, but not having the willingness — I almost said balls — the willingness to say, ‘Okay, let’s go head-to-head. Let’s really compete. Let’s see who can get whose market share.’ That’s real competition. So, I’m a little disappointed in the rhetoric that I’m hearing out of Tony, as well as some of the talent. Man, shut the f*** up. Until you’re actually competing and you’re actually competing favorably — and by the way, Tony, in 1996 I was kicking WWE’s ass. Every week! In a real head-to-head competition, not a cosplay competition.”
It’s going to be interesting to see if Tony Kahn listens to Eric Bischoff or if the working relationship between them was broken by Bischoff’s comments.
