Since coming to WWE, Matt Riddle has found his mouth getting him into some trouble. From provoking legends like Goldberg, constantly calling out Brock Lesnar, and getting on the bad side of Seth Rollins? He’s been making a bad name for himself. However, he might have finally gotten on the wrong side of the wrong person, as recent comments seem to have annoyed Roman Reigns.
Riddle Claimed Roman Reigns Doesn’t Move The Needle, Causing Some Potential Heat Between The Two
Recently, a conversation on what “moves the needle” in professional wrestling has been something that everyone has been trying to get their word on. In this contest, moving the needle relates to things such as selling merch, tickets, and boosting TV ratings. Roman Reigns would claim neither John Cena in WWE or CM Punk in AEW moves the needle, while he does.
For some reason, Riddle decided it would be a great idea to claim that Reigns doesn’t move the needle either, which has gotten him in some potentially hot water backstage. The full quote in question was the following.
“When he’s saying ‘Acknowledge me’ or ‘I move the needle,’ no, you don’t” You’re related to The Rock. Shut up. Like, I’m not impressed, I can beat you up in a real fight. So, shut your mouth. You’re not moving needles. I’m the real stallion, RK-Bro is moving the merch, we’re moving the needle, and that’s it.”
However in a recent interview, Riddle would have the following to say about the reaction to those comments.
“Well ya know, I’ll do this. I’m trying not to talk too much trash anymore. I don’t wanna upset the higher ups. I said something about, I’m not gonna mention an exact name, but he’s a ‘Chief of Tribes.’ I said something about him recently and he wasn’t too happy.”
Not Much Of An Issue Thanks To The WWE Brand Split
At the end of the day, while Riddle needs to stop talking trash about people he isn’t feuding with – it’s not the end of the world. Reigns & Riddle aren’t set to work together, as they are on separate brands. Roman Reigns of course rules Smackdown Live as the WWE Universal Champion, with his reign recently passing days.
Meanwhile, Riddle is RAW Tag Team Champions alongside Randy Orton, which is a team often considered to be a highlight of Monday Night RAW. Down the line his attitude could really rock the boat, but for now it remains smooth sailing for Riddle.
