Halloween Havoc was the latest special episode of NXT that paid tribute to old school PPV. Halloween Havoc is likely to be one of the biggest shows to focus on Halloween in the wrestling industry. The card of the show was PPV standard, with most matches on the card being Championship matches.
It also features the women’s tag belts and NXT Women’s World Championship changing hands. It does seem like NXT won’t be having any more PPVs after this, but looking at the viewership increase might work out for the show.
The viewership
The latest viewership has been elevated to be a great jump from 606,000 to 746,00. This shows that the special events can really bump the numbers as this is one of NXT’s best numbers since the NXT 2.0 rebrand. But after this, it does ask the question; will the growth in viewership continue?
Can NXT continue this?
In a similar fashion to AEW, these specials seem to bring growth to the viewership. These shows in AEW could be seen as events that do grow the audience as a whole. It’s possible that if NXT does continue at this format, it may grow at a similar but smaller rate in viewership to AEW.
