Over the past year of WWE, it’s hard to deny they’ve finally found what works for Roman Reigns. After years of being a controversial figure in WWE, often being pushed too hard compared to his fan reactions – everything clicked with his Tribal Chief character. His reign as WWE Universal Champion has seen him seriously step up his game both in the ring and on the microphone, and it’s finally starting to pay off for WWE.
Who Said Heels Can’t Sell Merchandise?
When it comes to WWE, they like the people who can make them a lot of money. People like John Cena, Rey Mysterio & Jeff Hardy often printed money for WWE, not to mention names like Stone Cold, The Rock, and Hulk Hogan. However, Roman Reigns has changed the game – and is currently the top merch seller in the company despite not being booked as a face.
He’s currently topping the charts and moving merch as a despised villain at the top of the card. This is basically unheard of, especially with reports that his sales are at the levels of peak John Cena. This information comes from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and seems to indicate that heel Roman Reigns is not going anywhere.
Roman Reigns Is Not Expected To Lose The Belt At Crown Jewel
The next big match for Roman Reigns in WWE comes at Crown Jewel. Reigns will face longtime rival Brock Lesnar at the Saudi Supershow, in what could be their most interesting clash yet. This is due to Lesnar being a face, and Heyman trying to play both sides. However, the result might be obvious – as WWE doesn’t want to take the belt off Reigns yet.
The current plan is to stretch this feud out potentially into Wrestlemania in 2022, but only if The Rock won’t be available. If they can get The Rock and do a match between him and Reigns, that will go at Wrestlemania, and the Brock Lesnar feud will finish around Royal Rumble – which Lesnar is scheduled to wrestle at.
