UFC President Dana White is one of Conor McGregor’s longest-standing supporters. With Conor McGregor potentially facing a lawsuit over his alleged assault of an Italian DJ, and a lengthy layoff from competition thanks to a broken leg, his future in the UFC has never looked more doubtful. Dana White addressed a press conference on the issue.
“We talked about it a little bit today in matchmaking – I don’t know enough about it,” White said. “I honestly don’t even know enough about it to comment on it.
Dana White Reacts to Latest McGregor Controversy
Obviously I’ve seen what you guys – you guys have seen more than me, actually, to be honest with you. I haven’t talked to Conor, so I don’t know what the truth is. I don’t know exactly what happened. So to comment on it, I really can’t.”
Dana White’s vague comments and allusions to McGregor’s various transgressions are par for the course when it comes to the Irishman. McGregor has often eluded serious consequences from the UFC for his increasingly erratic behaviour, including the infamous bus incident in 2018 and the post-fight brawl with Khabib’s team.
Neither Conor McGregor nor any of his team have issued a statement regarding the alleged assault in Italy. McGregor’s social media presence revealed a luxurious family holiday in the Mediterranean city, with “The Notorious” frequenting designer boutiques and attending nightclubs.
Dana White also addressed the ongoing concerns about vaccination mandates in the USA and other countries. For the UFC, which boasts a roster with fighters from all over the world, this could be terrible for business.
The UFC is partial to hosting major events in various countries, but has been limited to Florida, Texas, and the purpose-built facility in the United Arab Emirates known as Fight Island.
It looks like Fight Island may well be on the cards once more. “I’ve been telling you guys through this whole thing.
You’re like, ‘Hey, what about this, what about that?’ I said I have no idea how all this nuttiness is going to play out, but here we go. We’re gonna – I don’t know. I think ‘Fight Island’ is going to be hopping again.
Yeah, we’re looking to do more events (there). I’m going to Abu Dhabi next Wednesday, so I have a lot of meetings out there. I’ve been dying to walk you guys through what’s been going on in Abu Dhabi anyways, so this trip I’ll get everything done, buttoned up and finished and I can come back and walk you guys through it.”
