Big E finally realized his potential in WWE when he was able to cash in the Money In The Bank briefcase to become WWE Champion. However, the moment Bobby Lashley lost that championship, Drew McIntyre knew his time away from the belt was done. McIntyre couldn’t challenge while Lashley was champion – but Big E is fair game, and the Scottish Warrior could take that belt with him to Smackdown Live if he wins tonight.

Big E Gets The Biggest Test Of His Career

Big E got a great reception, but looked nervous in his first big PPV title defense. He’d talk a big game, before locking up with McIntyre, showing they’re equal in power with a stalemate. McIntyre would run Big E down with a shoulder tackle, before grabbing a quick arm lock. Big E fought free, dropping McIntyre for a splash on the apron, but wouldn’t get it.

McIntyre rolled out of the way, and threw Big E with a huge Belly to Belly Suplex on the floor. Back in the ring, McIntyre got a Russian Leg Sweep, and quickly moved into a pinfall, and once Big E kicked out, went right to an arm lock. Big E got free, but walked into a jumping spinebuster. McIntyre was out wrestling and outfighting the champion, but Big E would fight back with three Belly to Belly suplexes.

However, McIntyre fired back some suplexes of his own before looking for Future Shock. It was countered with a suplex, at least the ninth of the match, before Big E hit a running splash for a two count. Big E looked for Big Ending, but was countered by a Prawn Hold, getting two. McIntyre hit a major blow with a Michinoku Driver – getting the closest fall yet.

Drew McIntyre Realizes He Was In Big Trouble

Going to the top rope, McIntyre would look for the axe handle, but Big E had this scouted. He’d lure McIntyre into the corner and plant him with a uranage. McIntyre fired back with the Future Shock DDT, getting a ‘This is Awesome’ chant from the crowd. Big E blocked a Claymore and applied a Stretch Muffler, and almost locked the hands to potentially break the leg of McIntyre.

The hold was fought off, but McIntyre wandered into the Big Ending – somehow only getting a two count. He’s now realizing maybe his finisher isn’t main event level, and now needs to think of something new. However, maybe he just needed a Bigger Ending and would go up to the top rope. McIntyre countered with a top rope Bulldog, which was a pretty easy counter.

The Claymore was set up again, but Big E was able to dodge. As he set up the spear through the ropes, McIntyre nailed the Claymore finally, but Big E was able to kick out. A second Big Ending would land, and this time it was enough to get the win!

Big E was the one who coined the term “I WANT BIG MEATY MEN SLAPPING MEAT” and that’s what we got here. Two proper heavyweights going toe to toe in a hard hitting match. McIntyre is great, Big E is on the run of his career – and this match was just plain fun. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
