Earlier in the night, Pete Dunne called out Cameron Grimes for a match. With new Smackdown Live superstar Ridge Holland in his corner, they’ll match up tonight. Holland still has a few weeks left in NXT to help Dunne. Grimes didn’t find a manager yet, but he’ll get there. The man just wants love, but Dunne wants to tear some people apart and prove he’s the baddest man in NXT. This one should be great.

Cameron Grimes & Pete Dunne Embody The Classic NXT Style On NXT 2.0

Dunne & Grimes are some of the best technical wrestlers on the roster, and an ankle pick from Grimes wouldn’t get much done, and Dunne wrestled out of a wrist lock to get Grimes down and snap the arm back. Grimes came back with a hurricanrana and told Dunne to kiss his grits, before catching him with an arm drag. Armbar applied, and Dunne would fight out before a short lariat.

Going back to the left arm, he’d stomp the elbow before bending it over the ropes. Grimes was learning why he shouldn’t have brushed Dunne off earlier tonight when he claimed to be the baddest man on the roster. Dunne looked for a running kick in the corner, and Grimes dodged before hitting some flying forearm shots. Grimes would come off the top with a crossbody, getting a two count.

Dunne would catch Grimes slipping, before hitting a German Suplex off the ropes. He’d get a two count off a buzsaw kick, before applying an armbar. Grimes would slip out, backflip over Dunne and go right into a German Suplex for a two count. Ridge Holland tried to get involved but Kyle O’Reilly made the save. Grimes got a big kick on Dunne, before going for the Cave-In. He was instead would get a flapjack onto the ropes and hit with Bitter End.

While NXT is no longer just PWG with AC – this match embodied that classic NXT style perfectly. They maximized their minutes in a match with a breakneck pace and constant action. A bit longer, and this one would have felt Takeover worthy. Their chemistry was great here. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)

After the match, Dunne & Holland went ahead and dropped O’Reilly in the middle of the ring. Holland is gone after Halloween Havoc – can O’Reilly claim revenge by then? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
