At Halloween Havoc, Tommaso Ciampa will be defending the NXT Championship against Bron Breakker. However, Joe Gacy has a chance to turn this into a triple threat match, if he can just defeat Ciampa in a singles match tonight. This will be the first singles match since becoming NXT Champion again, and could go either way as Gacy becomes more and more unpredictable.
Joe Gacy Wants To Purify The NXT Championship
Gacy would accuse Ciampa of showing incredible amounts of Toxic Masculinity and Championship Privilege. He represents his fans, the snowflakes – and will purify the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc. Ciampa isn’t focused on triggering anyone, he’s laser focused on remaining on top of NXT 2.0.
Gacy would offer a handshake, but get shoved into the corner by Ciampa. A boot to the face would follow, and Ciampa would nail a back elbow as well. Gacy was sent off the ropes, but came back with a shoulder tackle. Ciampa would work out of a rear chinlock, and grabbed an arm lock.
On commentary, Wade Barrett claimed someone like Ciampa shouldn’t be leading the charge of NXT 2.0 – a fresh face should. Gacy would nail a backbreaker for a two count, and he’d lock eyes with Harland at ringside. Ciampa would take advantage and nail a big running knee strike before taking the fight outside.
Tommaso Ciampa Looks Unstoppable
Gacy would get his face slammed off the announce table, and back in the ring looked for a dropkick but missed. Ciampa would look to draw blood with some hard elbows to the nose of Gacy, before a stomp as well. Gacy got a big sambo suplex for a two count and to start a comeback, following up with a senton on the apron.
Ciampa would have to fight from underneath during the picture in picture break, which saw Gacy apply a tight Cobra Twist. A backdrop got Ciampa back into the fight, before sending him off the apron with a knee strike. Some rushing lariats in the corner would crush Gacy, before a flying lariat took him out.
Gacy blocked the Air Raid Crash with a roll up, before taking a jumping knee strike. He’d go blow for blow with Ciampa and hit a big powerbomb before a moonsault. The moonsault missed, but Fairytale Ending was countered. However, Gacy had the springboard lariat countered, and there was the end of his fairytale.
Joe Gacy finally showed his in-ring skills that made him a top indy name in this hard fought battle with Tommaso Ciampa. The slow introduction of Harland is smart for the brand, as is setting up the new character of Joe Gacy as a threat in the ring. Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)
