On Smackdown, a segment of Edge’s reaction to Seth Rollins invading his house had a massive reference to the top tag team in AEW, FTR. In the segment, Edge said that he was going to get David and Daniel, these being the real names of Dax and Cash, the members of FTR. The mention was seen to many as a tribute to when FTR helped Edge get back to the ring. However, what was interesting was that Dax reacted on Twitter, saying that they would help. It has now been reported what the reaction backstage was.
What was the Backstage reaction?
Originally reported by Wrestlinginc, WWE, including Vince himself, didn’t care about the references made the report says:
“No-one backstage cared. Not Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard, John Laurinaitis or Kevin Dunn.”
This is pretty surprising as, in the past, WWE has had a no-nonsense approach to references to AEW. One of them being Sami Zayn, who has mentioned it in the past and did not go down so well.
Could we have more?
After the reaction is that no one cares, could we see more references between both AEW and WWE? AEW already makes fun of WWE on a weekly basis throughout their shows. If WWE starts to do that, we could see the reveal between both companies grow.
