Most men would choose to rest up on the last episode of Dynamite ahead of a match with Miro – but Bryan Danielson is not most men. He always wants to get into the ring and do what he does best. This means that just a few days ahead of the finals of the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament – he will face off with Rocky Romero in what is a dream match for some.
The King of Sneaky Style has shown up in AEW before, and goes way back to the LA Dojo of NJPW with Danielson. They haven’t locked up since 2008, but still know each other’s styles very well. Prior to the match, Kazuchika Okada would invite all of Best Friends to join CHAOS – which Trent? has been in since 2013.
Rocky Romero Came To Settle A Decades Old Score
Kicking things off with a handshake was accepted, a code of honor if you will. Danielson would be taken down to the mat by the wrist, but was able to weather the storm. Romero would be rocked with a shoulder tackle, but almost got that Diablo Armbar for the finish. It’s a damn shame Romero won’t be in the 2021 Best of The Super Juniors- he’s had an incredible year.
Danielson got the ropes, and would grab a waist lock to take Romero down before being backed into a corner. Romero nailed some back elbow strikes, and broke off another waist lock by rushing the ropes and sending Danielson outside. OC put his hands in his pockets, a distraction to allow Romero to cruise in with a tope suicida.
Maintaining control back into the ring, Romero tried for strikes in the corner – before Danielson laid them in twice as hard. Romero called for more, but instead was put into the Romero Special. No, Rocky didn’t invent it, but he also borrowed it from Jushin “Thunder” Liger. He’d have the answer, but took knee strikes when free before hitting a perfect springboard DDT.
Bryan Danielson Keeps Adding Wins To His Record
Danielson was trapped in the ropes, and took a dropkick to the side of the head – sending him out to the floor. Romero kept the pressure on with a hurricanrana off the steps, and Sliced Bread in the ring got a two count. Forever Lariats would last for two, before a rolling elbow and German Suplex got a two count for Danielson.
Danielson set up a classic backdrop from the top rope, and Romero countered into a pinfall for two, and then went right into that Diablo Armbar. Romero would be powerbombed out of the hold, before trading blows with Danielson. He’d go for the Diablo Armbar again, and Danielson would counter into a Calf Slicer. Trading submissions moved into an ankle lock, before Romero got the armbar.
The arm was fully extended, but Danielson had no quit in him. He’d battle free, nail the buzzsaw kick and stomp the head of Romero in. Danielson would apply Tequila Sunrise, and force a submission. Yet another win for Danielson, but is he ready for Miro? Only time will tell.
The Inner Circle Were Ready To Tear Dan Lambert Apart At Full Gear – Not Tonight
This Saturday night at Full Gear, The Inner Circle are in full effect as they take on Dan Lambert & American Top Team in a street fight. Before they’d come to blows, Jericho & pals would decide to take some time to chat with Tony Schiavone.
Inner Circle was invited down to the ring, and were attacked from behind by American Top Team. They were outnumbered by legit MMA fighters, and they brought weapons. Junior Dos Santos punched Guevara in the ribs, Santana was thrown into steel steps, and Ortiz had a kendo stick bent over his back.
Finally, Jericho was sent right through a table at the hands of Lambert with a powerbomb. Lambert would proceed to apply the Walls Of Jericho, and a punished Jericho tapped out. They were already fired up – but now we have a pissed off Inner Circle to take on the American Top Team.
