While CM Punk might claim the nickname of “Best In The World”, few can deny that Bryan Danielson has been the one earning that name in 2021. Since the start of the year in WWE to now in AEW – he’s been putting everything he has into his matches. From his set of matches with Roman Reigns in WWE, to a time limit draw with Kenny Omega and hard hitting brawls with Eddie Kingston & Minoru Suzuki, to even going all out with Aaron Solo on AEW Dark? Danielson has been nothing short of amazing to work with both in and out of the ring, as noted in a recent report from Fightful.
Bryan Danielson Entered The Forbidden Door, But Left The Road To WWE Open
This news originates from backstage sources from Fightful Select, which gave some new information on the time Bryan Danielson spent in WWE in 2021. From Danielson being a last second addition to the main event of Edge vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37, to him being praised for making the final match with Roman Reigns on the April 30th episode of Smackdown Live?
Danielson did a lot to keep his reputation intact within WWE. He’s a smart man, and while he made the choice to jump over to AEW – the door was kept open. One source within WWE noted the following in regards to Danielson. “Bryan handled things so well that a lot of people didn’t think he was actually leaving or taking any time off. We couldn’t have asked for more.”
Likely To Enter The WWE Hall Of Fame Eventually
The door was kept open for a return down the line, and Danielson has been sure to not bad-mouth WWE following his exit in promos or interviews. He even respected wishes to not do the “Yes!” chants alongside fans in AEW. With him now in his forties, Danielson knows he is not getting any younger. Many speculate the reason he left WWE to be that there was a lot of matches he wanted to have before he was ready to hang his boots up – both first time clashes like with Eddie Kingston or rematches like Kenny Omega.
When all is said and done, we could see Danielson return to WWE to get his well deserved spot in their Hall of Fame. A legends deal is likely waiting for him whenever he is ready, and perhaps even more matches as well. More wrestlers should act like Danielson. While some do have legitimate beef with WWE like Windham – others have little reason to go out and burn a bridge back to the company.
