We’re in May 1997 for WWE In Your House 15: A Cold Day in Hell. The main event for this show sees Stone Cold Steve Austin getting his shot at The Undertaker’s WWE Championship.
The Best of WWE In Your House 15
Ken Shamrock taking on Vader was one of the better matches on this card. Even before rewatching this show, I remembered this match standing out for how WWE promoted the “No Holds Barred” stipulation on RAW.
This was one of those early Attitude Era stipulations that WWE ran with that actually worked. That’s purely down to having the right wrestlers in this match as Shamrock and Vader delivered a physical bout.
Honestly, this could’ve been pushed back toward the middle as the first couple of matches were mediocre at best…and not all of them hit that low peak. The main event between Steve Austin and The Undertaker was pretty good.
It wasn’t an epic clash or anything but it was significantly better than most of the bouts on this show. We also got continued to build with The Hart Foundation in the closing moments of the match and afterward. On that note, at least the match flowed into something interesting.
The Rest
Oof. At least the IYH shows are short and WWE In Your House 15 kind of breezes along well. That said, the opener with Young Triple H and Flash Funk should’ve been a little better than it was—especially with the time given.
Mankind vs. The Rock suffered from a still-developing Rocky. I wouldn’t even say this match showed flickers of future greatness or chemistry. It was just something about this match that didn’t click outside of The Rock’s greenness.
I was foggy on the Ahmed Johnson versus The Nation of Domination gauntlet. Sure, I remember the match taking place but I’ve only seen it a few times. It’s not exactly a match that I was eager to see and it ran a bit long but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. I’d say it’s far from good and a bit short of decent but even I was a bit involved in pulling for Johnson to win here.
WWE In Your House 15 Verdict: Bronze Medal (2.1/5)
This wasn’t a great In Your House but it featured two matches right after each other that ended the whole thing satisfactorily. I would’ve pushed Vader vs. Ken Shamrock back a spot to make the first half a little more exciting but overall the show didn’t feel like it went on for longer than it should’ve.
The match of the even was the No Holds Barred bout between Vader and Ken Shamrock.
